Jessica Monét Kemp, was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Rev. Dr. Kenneth and Velma Willoughby Kemp. Born to a strong Christian family, Jessica grew up knowing that God is her source and strength. Accepting Christ at a young age, Jessica developed her relationship with God through the help of her parents, extended family members, and her experiences within the Youth Department of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. An “Antioch Baby,” Jessica participated in multiple youth activities, but found her voice in the Youth Choir. Jessica served as the Director of the Youth Choir for almost ten years.
Jessica accepted her call to the preaching ministry October 27, 2013, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX. On February 15, 2014 Jessica preached her first sermon and was licensed by her father, Rev. Dr. Kenneth Kemp, Pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, San Antonio, TX. Jessica graduated from the University of Houston and George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University in Waco, TX where Jessica obtained the Masters of Divinity, with a concentration in Theology. She was appointed.
Minister of Children and Youth in 2016 at Antioch and currently serves as the Minister of Children, Youth, and Young Adults. She also serves as the co-director of the Mid-Week Manna Service that meets Wednesdays at noon, director of the New Psalm Choir and a quarterly Saturday service called ReCharge. Jessica believes strongly that her call is to Preach the Gospel and Sing to God. Her scripture of strength in this season is Romans 1:16-17, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
