Mission
Statement
To remove financial, educational, health and social barriers in
disadvantaged communities, and create opportunities through economic
development, neighborhood revitalization, increased educational
opportunities, elderly services, and job training in collaboration
with public and private organizations.
ACTN History
Antioch Community
Transformation Network (ACTN) was established by Antioch Missionary
Baptist Church as a 501(c)(3) non-profit community development
corporation in April, 2000. ACTN's purpose is to address the
economic, social and recreational needs of San Antonio's east side
residents, the majority of whom are low income minorities.
ACTN’s service area is City Council District 2 on
San Antonio’s Eastside.
ACTN will focus especially on the geographic area bounded by I-35 on
the north, East Commerce Street on the south, New Braunfels Street
on the west, and Onslow Drive on the east.
This primary service area of the east side lags significantly
behind the rest of San Antonio in economic and educational
indicators despite the city’s growth during the 1990’s.
To address these disparities, ACTN is the
developer of the $7 million capital campaign to construct the Family
Life Education and Community Center Campus.
The 22,645 square foot Antioch Sports Complex and Community
Center opened to the community on May 2, 2005. It offers numerous
health, recreation and social amenities, and is the permanent
practice home of the WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars.
